In this article we will look into the installation of SharePoint portal 2010 on windows 7.
Following editions are available in SharePoint 2010
Following are the Pre-Requisites for SharePoint 2010
- 64 bit Operating System
- .NET Runtime 3.5 SP1 Download link
- MS Chart Download link
- PowerShell 2 Download link
- SqlServer 2008 R2 Download link
- Visual Studio 2010 Download link
Note: For production purpose operating System should be Windows server 2008 and SharePoint Standard/Enterprise
Run SharePointServer.exe, You will get following screen
Select Install Software Prerequisites from Install category. As you click on installer check you will get following error screen
So installer will not support directly to install in Windows 7, we have to check some other way to install.
Open Command prompt and execute following command
This command will extract all the files into specified folder. Now we have to do some changes in Config.xml that will locate in SharePoint2010\Files\SetUp
Add the following tag inside the configuration file
<Setting Id=”AllowWindowsClientInstall” Value=”True” />
Save and close configuration file and then run Setup.cmd file in root folder. Setup screen will pop up
Click ok to continue
Click finish button to complete the installation.
After the you will see following items in windows menu.
Open SharePoint 2010 central administrator and enter Windows account User Name & Password for login. If you see SharePoint central administration window means installation completed and successful.
